Hello again. Part II of the French Equatorial Africa aircraft on stamps series now published cddstamps.wordpress.com three stamps that make up the 1947 air mail definitive issue. Worth a look I think. and do you know the aircraft types? I didn't. here is one of the three stamps. Hope you enjoy seeing the others on the blog I welcome feedback and comments cheers Michael

Very quiet around here??? here is one to read. rather than say go to the blog here is my latest. if too much just say and I wont post like this again but go back to the short form India - aircraft on stamps Hello and welcome again to our aircraft on stamps blog. I still have not decided on a theme so this is a spacefiller – except the stamp is clearly not!! One I like - I don’t like many of the aircraft on stamps I see from India - I should add why – in my view they are all too much the same with little creativity in the design or subjects or themes, well that is how I see them. This one is better I think. This is a de Havilland DH.66 Hercules and one of a set of 6 issued in 1927, the others in the set are of the same design with just a different colour. This one is a little special as it has the watermark variety stars pointing to the left. If I had the time (and the money) I would enjoy searching out the various varieties in this issue. There are a few and while the price of many is in the hundreds of GB pounds many should be available for - I would think - £10 or less in Mint condition. A little trivia as this aircraft provided Imperial Airways with its first real long distances services. It was a 7 passenger British aircraft, first flown in 1926 and Imperial Airways used it to fly the airmail services it took over from the Royal Air Force. It first flew the Cairo Bagdad route then made the first flight to India, Delhi in 1927 with regular services starting in 1929. For the real trivia buffs, the name Hercules was chosen in a competition in the Meccano Magazine - remember that !!!! I welcome comments as always and especially ideas for a new series. Michael, I think these posts are great. I love that the story is contained with the image. To me, that's what this forum should be all about! The imagery is great, but if you have a story to go with it, it's even better. These are to me, reminiscent of Phil Merril's imperf series (which I love).

Thanks Scott. here is the most recent post. Lovely little aircraft a Caproni Ca 101 from the 1920s. even with a British connection since the original used Armstrong Siddeley engines. Lovely image, I think it is of the d'Aosta valley area. more on the blog of course www.cddstamps.wordpress.com have a great weekend everyone

Also, no the images aren't too large! They are perfectly amazing actually. There is no such thing as too much detail when it comes to stamp images.
