Hi This topic could keep us amused (or in despair) for ever. Hopefully amused and as a learning experience I thought maybe worth sharing a few, as I - or you - come across them. WHY? as education for collectors. What not to buy, I would even go so far as to say who not to buy from. I buy so I watch what is listed and how it is listed, images and descriptive text, very carefully. I sell so I try very hard to include quality images with full and accurate descriptions Here is my starter for ten..... there are far worse but I thought I might build up to them... from the bad to the %$&*^%$ disgraceful. if this is generic - is that really how you describe a stamp .. we have generic drugs here not generic stamps I dread to think what you might get if you purchased one --- since this is probably the best --- why else show it???

Ok so we are not to be negative but to help people learn surely it is good to show what not to do. a small sample. .............. enjoy yes only 2 are worth looking at based on the images presented. so as a seller please do the right thing for collectors. and as a collector. please look at responsible sellers. it will make the hobby a happier and safer place

I'm guessing the bottom two on the right are the stamps you think are worth looking at. The two on the top look very "bright", as if someone was manipulating the color to make them look pristine white.
I'm having a similar issue on hipstamp trying to find a nice France C22 (U.P.U. 12th congress - bird flying over Paris). The color variations range from gray - green - blue - and I'm not sure which have been purposely manipulated versus which are camera & lighting, versus an accurate representation of the stamp's color.

Deela, the 2 at $2.64 are the correct colour / shade for that Scott number - the one on the right bottom is probably faded and the Carmine shade Scott 83a hard to really tell from image - the challenge with many olderstamps which have various shades is knowing there are shades and how good the scan representation of the shade is, as well as how good the describer is. makes for a wonderful hobby.
