I posted the following in a reply to a vpillai post, but I'm copying it here to begin this thread: Decades ago (during one of my philately "off" periods), I was an avid aquarist. I kept a 55 gallon freshwater tank, with plans to start a marine aquarium. I devoured every magazine and book on the subject -- Dr Axelrod's Atlas, Tropical Fish Hobbyist, FAMA (Freshwater And Marine Aquariums), and any number of books on discus, cichlids, etc. A coworker (who was equally as avid) and I even discussed going into business together, installing and maintaining aquariums in doctors' and dentists' offices, and other commercial establishments. This is all to say that, if I were to start yet another topical collection, it would be to create virtual philatelic aquariums, collecting fish on stamps, but only my favorite species with which I would populate my "aquariums." And, of course, I would not comingle stamps on one page of species which could not cohabitate in an aquarium. I might, yet, since that does not entail simply blindly buying any stamps picturing fish. It would be very selective. Okay, you talked me into it; I'm going to do it.

The more I think about this idea, the more I like it. I'm thinking I could use an oversized page, maybe 12" X 18", having an aquarium printed on it in landscape orientation, and then populating that aquarium with fish, corals (for the marine aquarium), plants, and other appropriate marine life. I think this could turn into a very fun and interesting collection.
If anyone has other ideas to add, feel free to chime in. You can post images of stamps showing aquarium fish here. (And I realize any fish is an aquarium fish, if you want it to be, but I'm keeping to commonly kept fish.) That would be a big help.

Dubai Marine angels are some of the most beautiful fish to be found. The Imperial (or Emperor) Angels shown are juveniles. It would be interesting to find other stamps showing the color transitions to adulthood.

This is a great idea. Back a lifetime ago I used to also have several freshwater tanks. Learned what not to put into the tank with other fish as they would be eaten! Betas always fascinated me; they are so pretty when they flare up. Guppies and Mollies were a dime a dozen. Love the people who try to raise a shark in a 10-gallon tank! Just doesn't work.
So are you looking for pictures of fish stamps or the stamps themselves?
