Jamaica 12, 1/ brown, wmk 1, 1873, wing margin, mint hinged. British and colonial stamps of this period were usually printed in big sheets of 240 with a gutter seperating them into smaller sheets. The gutter was perforated down the middle instead of on the borders of the stamps. Thus, stamps from the middle had wide margins to one side and are known as wing margins or wing bats.
