Mount Godwin-Austen, better known, simply, as K2, was finally conquered in 1954 by an Italian climbing expedition. Italy had a commemorative stamp through the proof stage, when the issue was canceled due to in-fighting within the Italian climbing community. My question is, does anybody have, or know a website that has an image of the proposed stamp? Asking for a friend. jk Inquiring minds want to know.

Did I remember incorrectly -- didn't you get a Sassone catalog via a friend/relative in Italy? Or was that someone else? The proof is mentioned & priced in Sassone under 1955.

Nah, that wasn’t me. I’ve never had a Sassone. Thanks for the image.

Oh, it may have been Jack. He was big on philatelic books/catalogs. Hope his daughter didn't recycle them.
