I have been ripping my hair out for the past 6 hours trying to get Wordpress to work. Here's my current problem. I set up a template for new posts as shown in the first image. However, when I try to create a new post, the second image shows the screen I am presented with. None of the blocks I created appears, and there is no image placeholder. As can be seen on the right, the "Single posts" template is selected. So, why is my template not appearing? Can someone please help? Pleeeease? Template: New post screen.

I am interested to hear about your experience since I wanted to do something in WordPress. Which option (free, pay) did you choose?

I got the premium, $96/year, which included getting my own .com and I don’t know what else. I know it didn’t get me ease of use. I’m working on Blogger now to see if that’s any better (It’s better in the sense that you get 15GB storage that’s associated with the Google account you signed up under). Now I just need to figure out how to transfer my domain name from WP to Blogger.

I am interested to hear about your experience since I wanted to do something in WordPress. Which option (free, pay) did you choose? It looks like the benefits I get for my Premium plan is more storage - 13GB vs, I believe, 500MB in the free plan - your own personal domain name, and access to premium themes. What I really would like is a lightbox (click on a post image and have it pop up supersized) but getting the plug-in requires a Business plan. About the template issue, above: The second (unformatted) screen is what you see when you enter your content. Once you save it and publish it, the post looks the way you formatted your template. I still haven't gotten my first blog post completed because of image formatting being such a pain in the tuchus. (That's another thing you need the Business plan for. Right now, if I set a Featured Image to show on the home page as the preview for that post - cropped to fit the preview box - it also places the image at the top of your post, full size and, of course, cropped to fit. I'll just keep fiddling with it, see what I can figure out.

To give you a visual of the above explanation: This is the home page of the blog, which will display a preview of each of the last 12 posts. I had to specify that image as the Featured Image. This is the page for that post. The Featured Image is automatically placed in this position, although I want a different image placed there, one showing the complete set.

I watched a youtube video on wordpress and the person was promoting Go Daddy as the host ($1 per month, your own domain, etc). He walked through creating a site from scratch, templates (not a custom one), etc.
I had an interest in something non-philatelic.
