Henry Purcell Great Britain, Scott Nr 2693, SG2972 (2009) PHQ328 PHQ cards (PHQ=Postal Headquarters) are rather like maxi cards. Issued by Royal Mail since 16 May, 1973, commemorative stamps are reproduced as a large postcard and are made available for purchase, 2 weeks before the corresponding postage stamps go on sale. Collectors then place the stamps on the cards and have them cancelled. There are several ways to collect these: 1 - as mint unstamped cards; 2 - with the stamp affixed to the face (picture side) of the card; 3 - with the stamp affixed to the back of the card, as for mailing. In addition, postmarks can be either first day cancels or special postmarks for an event related to the stamp subject. Wikipedia has a list of 474 PHQ cards issued through August 2020, Did Royal Mail stop issuing these, or is Wikipedia in need of updating? My thanks to Karen Richardson, for sending this to me for my classical music collection.
