Yesterday, I received a wet envelope with several stamps stuck to the card. I expect an experienced seller to put stamps in something waterproof when mailing. A simple plastic envelope would have protected the stamps. I've received stamps where someone used kitchen plastic wrap and a piece of tape to protect them from getting wet. It's not rocket science. I also managed to save stamps that slid into pieces of tape they put at the edges of each row of the approval cards. This was from the APS-StampStore, an organization representing the industry / hobby. They should be adept at mailing stamps. Even more ridiculous is that the page they include describing how to request a return/refund says "Package the items securely...." When I receive stamps from a seller that doesn't package them properly, I don't purchase from them again. To me, proper mailing includes: - Protect the stamps from getting wet
- Secure the stamps from sliding around too much
- Use something stiff enough to prevent bending (preferably of the entire envelope)
- Don't use ungodly amounts of tape that can cause damage or make me struggle to free the stamps safely
On a happier note, the damaged stamps were from a set that cost only $12, so there's no great loss. I lucked out in that the three stamps that interested me in this set were undamaged. I have a fondness for stamps of animals with their prey.

Looks like the seller (APS StampStore) is going to do a refund. I do appreciate that, but I suggested they consider revising their shipping procedures to try to give some type of moisture protection to their items. Stuff happens - mail people drop stuff, spill coffee, etc.

I sell stamps and books on eBay and Colnect and I have found a really simple solution for shipping so that no moisture damages the items in an envelope or package...plastic cling wrap like you note above. It weighs next to nothing, sticks to itself and seals the item in a protective barrier. If stamps are on a stock card like the ones sent to you, the whole thing can be wrapped in plastic wrap and put in an envelope along with a stiffener.

out of the last 30 orders from various Hipstamp sellers only 2 were adequately packed. The quality is appalling. The reason. the sellers haven't a clue about online philately selling and shipping and they are not aware they need to learn. They are old time collectors selling off their collections. Very very different from people who have decided to become dealers and take the time to learn how to become a successful online dealer. Good to hear the stamps you really wanted were ok. Lovely stamps by the way and really interesting thematic topic. Thanks for sharing that
